Life is full of dreaming; it gives us something to look forward, something to plan for, and something to make our lives worthwhile. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the present that its difficult to place focus on the future, to plan on how we will execute the dreams that we have in our hearts. Matt Gombau celebrates dreaming and getting out of the regular, everyday routine that life imposes upon us through his track ‘Breathe.’

In collaboration with musician and producer Gwenshana, Matt releases his breathtaking latest single ‘Breathe.’ Helping him through the writing and production process of the piece, we also see Gwenshana playing the bass and drums as Matt rocks out on the guitar and sings the lyrics of the track. The message that they speak to is centered around refocusing our priorities and wanting to go after our wildest dreams.

The soft and inviting instrumental x vocal combination builds a beautiful indie essence on ‘Breathe.’ The gentleness of the melody invites the listener in, making it that much easier to really listen to and digest the lyrics. Matt sings about the repetitive nature that daily life can entail, and how he’s wishing to escape this. He raves about how he knows that there’s more for him to accomplish in this life.

Matt continues to explain how in his dreams, he sees himself moving away from his normal life where he can be free at last, where he can truly ‘Breathe.’ The dreamy spirit of the track ties in seamlessly with Matt’s hopes and thoughts about what he wishes to accomplish. The sound of the song itself transports us into Matt’s dreams, where he can be far away from society and live out his desired life.

Breathe’ speaks to a topic that is very relatable to everyone. We all can get lost in what is perceived as the “normal lifestyle” that we should be following. Sometimes, this becomes all too much, and we find ourselves requiring a much-needed break from the status quo. ‘Breathe’ allows listeners to evaluate what they want for their own lives; it allows them to ponder on what their true dreams are too.
