Coming Home /// Moonlight Thief

“Come Home” is the new single by indie rock group Moonlight Thief. They are a two-piece group, with Emily Küpers as lead singer, lyricist and acoustic guitarist, and Alexander Almering as electric guitarist and percussionist.

The song introduction features an acoustic guitar, and lead vocals. After one verse and a chorus, the rest of the band comes in. “Just call my name, and I’ll come home” she sings. The song is 5:09 minutes long, and it has a lot of energy sustained throughout the track. The song doesn’t feel long, it is the perfect length for what they are trying to achieve. The musical momentum continues to grow as more parts are added on, such as the electric guitar adding a pop to the track.

In the last verse, she discusses death, and how that leaves us with our memories of our time here, while we wonder what may be next. “Now it’s really over, we’re officially dead. It can not be fixed, with these tears I shed. Memories left of us I’ll bathe in Holy Water. A story in these pages, out on the alter” she sings. This song is deep, and will take multiple listens to understand more clearly what the concept of the song is fully about. It is about traveling and experiencing the world, but eventually coming home when the time comes.

They have released four songs on Spotify so far, with the first being released in December 2021. They already have 370 monthly listeners on Spotify, and “Come Home” has over 28,000 streams.
