Jana Pochop’s single ‘Chasm’ is here to pull at your emotions through a story of disconnect.
Synthy vocals and laid-back instrumentals come together to create a masterpiece of subdued dreaminess in ‘Chasm’. Something this track does right is its pacing. Though it never becomes high energy, the electronic percussion really sells the changes in energy. The instrumentation works with less of a bounce and more of a smooth flow. It’s the perfect translation for the lyrics. The sound is chasm-like, in which the wordplay follows suit, as they follow a tale of a relationship fading into emptiness.
Jana Pochop is an Albuquerque, New Mexico-based singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer. She toured and recorded in Austin for years, and then she studied music production in NY at Berklee College of Music’s Songwriting and Production Master’s program for a year. She’s already released two singles since ‘Chasm’ dropped, and her studies and experiences speak for themselves. Let’s see where it all takes her next!
