More More More /// Soft Set

In life, at times we find ourselves constantly searching for more. Whether that be a promotion in our job, a brand-new relationship or something unattainable, sometimes we feel we’re chasing something that simply does not exist. The vibrant, alternative Toronto duo Soft Set encapsulates this concept entirely through their new song, “More More More.” The single is the first from their brand-new album Still Life coming this summer.

More More More” untangles these natural emotions that we as humans tend to feel. No matter what we may have in front of us, no matter how far we may have come, we always seem to be in search of something more.  Soft Set refers to these thoughts as circles, continuously going round and round, unable to be stopped. No matter how far we continue to take this path and endure the course of life, we find ourselves in the same complacent spot. Always wanting more.

This feeling of despair and emptiness that we sometimes feel is combatted by the sweet and soft strumming of the bass, as performed by Mark Crozer. The variety between the melancholy lyrics and the upbeat rhythm of the track creates for a confounding yet immaculate audio experience. The funky, cool tempo somewhat offsets the gloomy lyrics without the viewer even noticing.

Accompanied by the release of an official music video, we see the main character struggle with confusion and heartache. The intention of the track, to communicate these feelings of yearning for more, is articulated impeccably both through the lyrics and through the music video.
