Round, The World Keeps Spinning Round /// Mulberry & Grand

To look back upon the history of our planet would be a daunting task. Truly examining and pondering on the changes that the Earth has gone through can frankly be depressing. If we look back, we can examine all the changes that the planet has gone through, some good, but a lot, negative. No matter what alterations, struggles or shifts this planet goes through, it continues on. These feelings of existential questioning are created through beautiful instrumentals and vocals on Mulberry & Grand’s track, ‘Round, The World Keeps Spinning Round.’

Mulberry & Grand is comprised of singer/songwriter, composer and sound designer Jack Arky, Jason Mandell, Justin Smith and saxophonist Geoff Mattoon. Together, Jack, Jason and Justin used to work together on their past Los Angeles acoustic folk band The Coals. Coming together again with the added jazzy aura produced by Geoff’s incredible saxophone playing, we see Mulberry & Grand creating lovely indie tracks like their hit ‘Round, The World Keeps Spinning Round.’

Speaking around the topic of the world and the changes it gone through, on this track Mulberry & Grand create a classical spirit on a song that encompasses a heavy subject matter. The beginning of the track showcasing soft rhythms, inviting listeners to trust the band. This song questions the audience to ponder on where we are as a society, and how we can aim to be better.

Though the track ponders a heavy meaning on a large scale, the song can also be applied on a more individual scale, too. Each day, we never know what this life may bring us, and what struggles we may have to endure. Life is challenging, crazy and rambunctious at times, and no matter what, it never stops. Life does not stop for anyone or thing, no matter how treacherous.

Mulberry & Grand speaks to this in their track through the title and chorus as they sing, “round, the world keeps spinning round, and round, and round.”

The finale of the track creates another somber, soft spirit encouraging listeners to take a step back and analyze their own lives and the planet. We believe that this track is a sound example of what we should be listening to right now. Sure, it’s fun to listen to exciting tracks that make us feel good, but this song makes us truly think, which is something we can all do a little more of.
