“Love Gun” is the new single by indie R&B/Soul artist Ricky Rique. He sings about the topic of love, including cupid’s use of a love gun to trigger these feelings he is feeling.
The snare and hi-hat cymbal stand out as a part of the production of the song. His background vocals have an effect that adds to the ambience of the song. The lyrics discuss his physical attraction for the other person, “Put your lips all over mine, and let’s do it all time, just until I make you mine” he sings. The main keyboard part is simple yet melodic.
“Our vibe is always fun, I think I found the one, shine brighter than the sun, cupid done hit me with his lalala love gun” he sings on the chorus. The focus on these lyrics is of the physical attraction he feels for her, and how since they are always having fun they will be able to get through the tough times as well.
Ricky Rique is originally from Virginia, but he is now based out of New York City. He has released nine singles so far on Spotify. According to the press release included with the song, his focus is on making records similar to the R&B of the 1990s and 2000s era. “I believe that 90s and 2000s R&B era was such a powerful era. I want to bring some of that power into my new music” he said.
