Internal Battles /// Sunday Hunter

Sunday Hunter is a Bristbane, Australia-based singer/song-writer who also produces her own music.  Her new record “Internal Battles” is about the perpetual internal monologues in our minds that grapple with the positive and negative voices impacting our lives. With her fusion of genres and unique sound, Sunday Hunter continues her streak of great music.

The song right away begins with a chopped vocal sample and electronic chords moving alongside atmospheric layers that feel like an homage to the UK electronic warehouse scene of the 90s. A funky toned synth bass arrives as Sunday rhymes over the beat. With unique percussion elements that are reminiscent of Timbaland’s production, the instrumental never feels too redundant.

Sunday flexes her range as a vocalist by transitioning into a sung bridge and hook. The melody is catchy and memorable.  The second verse then introduces pitch effects on her voice, working well within the context of the song where there are different voices in her head. The theme of the internal battles is well executed both lyrically and instrumentally. The final bridge has a vocoder, before the final hook is sung anthemically over the distorted synths. The song ends with a fun instrumental jam as ad-libs sing in the background, offering a fun conclusion to the tune.

Sunday Hunter is proving herself to be a really talented producer and artist with capabilities that range beyond any one genre. For fans of pop rap, electronic, and production music – Sunday Hunter is someone to definitely keep on your radar.
