You’re sure to get hooked on Rich Chambers’s latest track, ‘Don’t Go Jo’.
‘Don’t Go Jo’ is a nostalgic pop-rock track with catchy guitars and melody that has a hook-y chorus and crisp production. This track is here to show that stellar quality doesn’t require a studio and top-of-the-line equipment. Rich Chambers says that it was crafted with, “a decent microphone, some good software, a great idea, and lots of perseverance and dedication.” That being said, with the quality it provides, one wouldn’t know. The lyrics come from the eyes of a subject who has someone step away from them. They don’t know what they did wrong and are told they can’t do anything to keep this other person by their side. The chorus, which comprises most of the track in a catchy way fights to hold onto this connection. It starts with “Oh no don’t go Jo / You just can’t leave me on my own.”
Vancouver, Canada-based musician Rich Chambers is known for creating hook-driven songs that are meant to catch the ears, no matter the genre or influence. On top of making the music for ‘Don’t Go Jo’, Chambers also mixed and mastered it himself. He says that the song came to him at 3 A.M. when he woke up in the middle of the night, wrote it within the span of 30 minutes, then laid back down to sleep. On this, he says, “Rarely do songs come to me that quickly, but it sure is nice when they do, even if it is in the middle of the night.” This song shows that inspiration can hit quickly and turn into something refined. Who knows where inspiration and musical craftsmanship will take him next?
