4 Well-Written Tracks You Should be Listening to

Unless it’s an instrumental track, music wouldn’t be the same without the lyrical ability to tell stories and share emotions in a beautiful way. Here are four tracks with writing that’s here to astound their audiences.

Avery Raquel – Like The Rain

‘Like The Rain’ is a jazz-influenced pop track with a moderate pacing that allows an introspective vibe to shine. The soft vocals play well with the piano and soft production, and the chorus comes off in an infectiously catchy way. Overall, the vocals in this track take the spotlight well with their smooth flow and gorgeous harmonies backing things up. Lyrically, this track expresses a beauty to be found in the rain. However, it uses poetic devices to get into a tale of mental struggles and yearning for another.

DOLL – Jason

‘DOLL’ is a somber and slowly-paced piano ballad with gorgeous vocals and atmospheric buildup that plays on emotion well. The alto vocals in this track have such a fullness to them, and their dynamics in timbre are astounding. They riff along and at times hit soft and bright tones in transitions that show a sense of vocal mastery. Lyrically, this track is about the aftermath of getting away from an abusive ex. This track is a deeply emotional listen as it calls back to a space of hurt while directly calling out the person who mistreated the main voice of the track.

ah-Na – Villains

‘Villans’ picks up the pace with its quick hyperpop sound, with a focus on electronics that gives great energy. This track has a really great bass drive to it with quickly paced synths and a punchy rhythmically diverse vocal. On top of the vocals, there’s an overall punchiness here that benefits from the crisp production to give a bit of punchiness to its powerful rush. Lyrically, this track comes from the perspective of someone who’s taking power in femininity. This track definitely delivers the kind of confidence boost we all need at times.

Shriving Drawers – Mutiny

‘Mutiny’ is soft and more than somber. This track is a standout, as it uses a soft production style, but that style complements the laid-back pacing and introspective lyricism. The vocals in this track are breathy but play with an emotional pull, and the main guitar riffs cut in at the right times to keep the portions with no vocals interesting. Additionally, the guitar works well with its intricacies and smooth note transitions. The lyrics in this track are poetic and metaphoric, leaving their meaning up to listener interpretation. That being said, the picturesque scenes they paint are gorgeous.
