Lil Savage and NRG crafted absolute fire with their recent collaborative single, ‘Never Settle’.
‘Never Settle’ has that buzzy heavy twang that brings a hard punch to any hip-hop track. But, it also calls back to nostalgic lyrical rap in its flow and use of samples. The 808s growl along with a jazzy vocal sample edited in to become a part of the instrumentation. Also, the way these samples and sounds are used refuses to be one note, and it adds dynamics to the rush of energy that this track provides. It’s a bit vintage with the sounds used, but the vocals bring a modern spin to things. Vocally, Lil Savage’s verses have a scratch that gives them a hardcore twang. Then, NRG comes in with his own unique flow that delivers just as much power.
The power of this song extends to the story of the lyrics. They play off of the title and hook, ‘Never Settle’. It’s about fighting for what one deserves without settling or letting others push them down. Additionally, it shows self-confidence in one’s own work, which can be heard in the line, “I’m the motherf*ckin beast and you’re a f*ckin parasite.” In this, it shares to rise above opposition and not take anything from anyone whose opinions don’t matter.
Lil Savage crafted ‘Never Settle’ with the help of NRG who is with Dirt House Entertainment. They pulled influences from lyrical rap but worked with them to make something that sounds more fresh on the scene. Lil Savage and NRG recorded this track with professional equipment and mixed it themselves at Dirt House Entertainment, and both of their former experience in mixing music benefitted the creation. These rappers both have strong discographies, and this collaboration shows their ability to work with others to make some fire. Let’s wait and see what bangers both rappers will be onto next!
