“O Daughter” is a track that is able to keep the definition of what folk music is and how it is able to continue to touch the hearts of those who like to keep it traditional. The melodies were not the only noteworthy aspect of “O Daughter.” The melody was melodic and original. Nick and Alice have a warm and rich vocal tone as they put real feelings into the lyrics. The lyrics are meaningful and clever with some expressive phrases. The instrument(s) provided a wonderful sound that has been able to tell a personal backstory, making the track feel like the audience is bound to take a journey through one’s point of view. Overall, the song is well-shaped and tuneful, and I think it has the potential to reach the hearts of those who relate to having their child or children leave the nest to embark on the real world.
