Toronto-based artist, Adria Kain, has released her latest track, “Ocean (Reprise)”, which is an enthralling, beautiful neo-soul and r&b jam that is a reprise of the 2015 song that put her on the map, “Ocean”.
“Ocean (reprise)” is meant to be a reimagined version of her 2015 hit single and with this version you can hear the growth in the vocals, performance, and production. It is astounding. Being a depiction of vulnerability and accountability, the lyrics on this song exhibit those feelings beautifully. It is tender; it feels like a big hug and a step towards healing. With the song starting with “I am not the same anymore”, you know the song is about to take you on a wild ride emotionally.
The production and vocal performance are exquisite as well. The production is very simple with only a few elements (like a guitar) which gives way for Adria Kain to showcase her amazing vocal prowess. The vocals are powerful and raw. You can feel the pure emotions and how much Kain cherishes this song. These elements add to the overall feel of the song and result in a beautiful soundscape where Adria Kain shines. There are so many extraordinary moments on this track but a personal favorite has to be during the second verse and second chorus. The intensity and emotion in the vocals is astonishing.
“Ocean (Reprise)” is a beautiful neo soul and r&b reimagination of Adria Kain’s original Ocean. It profoundly exhibits the nature of vulnerability and accountability while being filled with so much emotion. With the captivating production and lyrics mixed with the heavenly vocals, Adria Kain exhibits her talents and shows why she is and will be a force in the music industry.
