If You Wanna Love Me /// Allegra

British born Allegra returns with another fun dance number that continues her streak of fun, up-tempo dance music that is destined to keep listeners moving their bodies to the developed sound she has been able to consistently execute.

“If You Wanna Love Me” is a blend of funk, disco, R&B, and pop that offers both intimacy and letting loose in just under three minutes. This can fit spending time at home or a night of rollerblading, which seems fitting when describing a love song that is also fun.

The four on the floor drums allow the bass to bounce around, establishing a nice low and mid-range for Allegra’s voice to shine on the top of the frequency range. The funky Daft Punk like guitar blend over the electronic element is a nice touch. Overall, the production is clean and the songwriting allows for the verses to reward the hook with construction of the layers progressing throughout. The horn solo is a pleasant addition, allowing a break from the timbre of sound heard for most of the piece.

Allegra’s voice is very smooth and it seems like she effortlessly is able to float over the instrumental production. The songwriting has the genre’s formula down and it hits all the right beats in song structure, but it’s Allegra’s ability to execute in style without ever sounding too over the top.

Allegra matches perfectly with this style of music and continues to be a name to look out for in the pop-dance music space. She is on an impressive streak of hits and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down. I look forward to what else she has in store in the future.
