Fusing elements of synthwave, modern rock, and an anchoring electronic tone, Berlin-based indie duo Bromsen has been determined to spread their message to the world since they began collaborating a few short years ago. Defined by lyrical think pieces that reflect the artists’ interpretation of the modern human condition, set to nuanced and progressive instrumentality that always strikes the right cord, fans worldwide have found a way to resonate with their work and message. Their latest single, Data Highway, proves to be a marquee example of the project’s ingenuity and mission, sending listeners on a journey with every verse as it examines the relationships we have formed with modern society.
A symphony of electronic beats pulsates rapidly to begin the piece, and we immediately get a sense for the adrenaline rush this music strives to give us. Waves of distorted notes suspensefully build on top of each other, and the world of this music builds around us in real time. The vocals appear soon after in a hushed, yet resonant timbre, and begin the narrative with the opening line “Walk in and up the sky, talk in an up to date way. Rockin’ the wheel we try, keep us from bad gateways,” as we see the larger ambitions of the music on full display.
Bold, definitive, and entirely of its own, the single brings this project into the limelight with its novel approach to thematic cultivation. Having accomplished so much with this latest single, fans can only wait with anticipation to see what could possibly be coming next from this duo’s minds and studio.
