Defining their creative identity from their home studio in Würzburg, Germany, solo artist HEADleave has more than shown their mastery in cultivating a sonic experience. As they look toward the next chapter of their creative journey, they release their most ambitious undertaking to date, They Mostly Come At Night… Mostly, a fully immersive soundtrack inspired by one of their greatest creative influences, James Cameron’s 1986 blockbuster, Aliens.
The fan tribute song proves itself as one of the artist’s most sentimental works to date, as it captivates listeners’ attention from the opening notes. Beginning with a dramatic electronic symphony that plays as a nostalgic homage to vintage cinematic scores, we are immediately thrown into the world of the music that we can feel the artist building around us in real time. Lyrically engaging from the start as well, the artist hooks listeners on the narrative at their first opportunity through the opening line, “Bay door open, clouds below, engines thunder, time to go.” Immediately, we are transported to a world of imagination through the feelings this music inspires, and we feel a sense of investment to allow ourselves to be carried away in the moment.
The retro synth track does more than celebrate an affinity for Colonial Marines, Ellen Ripley, and Hollywood’s biggest Xenomorph, but it serves to showcase HEADleave’s proclivities as a retro synth track connoisseur, as they debut this latest cinematic synthwave space horror soundtrack. Having accomplished so much with this latest release, fans can only wait with anticipation to see what this artist could possibly have in mind for their next release.
