Angels /// Saint Barae

Saint Barae is an Australian indie electronica songwriter who tries to capture the vibe of city nights under a neon moon where the vibes of lush synths and angelic vocals capture a vibe that we’ve all witnessed when the sun has gone down.

‘Angels’ is an impressive display of pop songwriting and top quality production that delivers a glued sound bed that feels like every soundwave has been cooked and served to its right timbre. The mixing really brings out all washed reverberation that allows the EQd guitars and synthesizers to feel dreamy along the lead vocals. The bass 16th note bass gives the pulsating energy necessary to make your head calmly bounce up and down as you listen.

The drum programming offers a nice antithesis with the 80s driven beat and gated distorted snare that gives ‘Angels’ a rugged underbed in its rhythm section. The song excels with its composition and different sections that allow the hook to feel big and memorable. The verses are really delicate, allowing a nice range of dynamics, making the chorus that much more satisfying. With a great production and strong vocal performance, our introduction to Saint Barae has us excited about this Gold Coast star.

This is a tune you could hear both on the radio, see on television, or find on the notorious A State of Trance series. This is a really pretty tune that feels both fresh and nostalgic to electronic music from the early 2000s. Saint Barae is only twenty-five years old and we can’t wait to hear what’s in store from his bright future.
