KeeZY is a Los Angeles based R&B, Rap artist who has written a song inspired by Atlanta’s vibrant nightlife. Specifically, the inspiration shifted his sound to encompass the energy and excitement of the city’s club life. It is also a reflection on what it’s like to be separated by space in a long distance relationship. The result is “I Miss You”, a creative tune that excels in both performance and production.

The instrumental begins with a rhythmic synth that leads into KeeZY’s lush reverberated vocals. A deep 808 bass enters and then the trap beat comes in as the signature autotune, higher octave sound comes in cleanly over the smooth beat. There’s definitely a nightlife feel captured in the timbre of the song. KeeZY has a gifted voice with great range that is able to give the song many vocal dynamics.

Lyrically, the song shares the desire and yearning for a sexual interest within the context of a night in Atlanta. Diving deeper, KeeZY is directing this interest towards the overwhelming feeling of a long distance relationship. It’s never easy to have desires that can’t be acted upon due to the distance separating two people. The song does a great job capturing the head space that exists in this reality and it never comes off as cliche either, as a sense of sincerity exists in KeeZY’s performance.

It’s refreshing to hear sung trap music that doesn’t fall victim to sensationalism and unoriginal lyrics. “I Miss You” is a contextual tune that centers on a specific feeling of yearning and separation with enough dynamic range and sectional changes to keep it fresh and exciting. We look forward to hearing what’s next from the Los Angeles artist.
