It Feels New /// Far West

Far West have shared their 9th release since 2020 titled “It Feels New” –  a poppy guitar driven single that embodies synth-pop elements, guaranteeing good vibes and catchy riffs that the music project has started to build a reputation for.

Their new song right away immerses you into their world with their washed guitars, 80s drums, and lush synths while keeping everything not overly produced, maintaining a raw organic production quality that stays true to the indie-rock music element within their sound. The verse builds into their trademark catchy hooks that offer head bobbing melodies, while feeling like the unwinding of a day on a welcoming beach. A confident saxophone even makes an appearance, adding to the playful and relaxed imagery of their sound..

Lyrically, “It Feels New” is a song about being with someone and how it makes you feel, but within the spirit of the genre and it’s covered and effected vocals, the musical instrumental can hypnotically let your mind create its own narrative for however the song makes you feel.

Towards the end of the song at a pre-chorus, the composition enjoys a nice jam as the horn riffs over the musical bed, adding a nice change to the verse/hook structure. As always, Far West achieves delivering a song that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The crew has really mastered their sound in really excelling how every instrument and element should sound from the drums, guitars, synths, to the vocals. It allows for their music to feel both authentic and sincere.

“It Feels New” is another great song in an impressively growing catalog from the musical project hailing from Santa Cruz. For fans of indie-rock and synth-pop that caters for the youthful summery spirit, we highly recommend that you start getting familiar with Far West.
