Over time, the rock scene has evolved into a vibrant and diverse collection of sounds. Depending on your mood or style preferences, this variety brings a broad sonic range to the genre. However, what if you, simply, just want to rock? What if you want to experience awesome riffs more than sleek synth? Then, you may want to turn to the raucous, Los Angeles-based alternative rock duo Moon Walker.
With their latest single, “Doombox,” lead singer/guitarist Harry Springer and drummer Sean McCarthy have delivered a chiclet rattling, adrenaline pumping blast. It is a deep, resonating sound that only has one objective: to melt your face off with a clash of electrifying riffs and vigorous drums. Altogether, the duo combine for an intense bout of rebellious, roaring rock.
Beyond the sonic barrage, Springer transmits waves of angst. Suffice it to say, he’s fed up. Plain as day, a no nonsense attitude is Springer’s default mode.
In turn, Springer responds with an aggressive stance to all of the static he receives. Today, we receive noisy chatter from all angles. As a result, communicating a message tends to get lost in transmission. “I’m sick of singing when no one’s even listening,” Springer laments. Instead of being receptive, we filter out what doesn’t fit our views and refuse to adopt a new line of thinking. Or as Springer says “I’m an old dog. I already know my own tricks.”
There are no two ways around it, Moon Walker are not here to play nice. “Doombox” is not an olive branch, it’s a bundle of briars. You will not escape this tune unscathed.
